UC San Diego Pharmacy Students & Millennium Laboratories Partner to Present Groundbreaking Research at PAINWeek 2011

Student Research, Guided by World-Renowned Toxicologist, Amadeo J. Pesce of Millennium, has Significant Implications for Drug Metabolism

SAN DIEGO, CA – September 6, 2011 – This week, nine PharmD students from the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego will attend PAINWeek®, the National Conference on Pain for Frontline Practitioners. At this conference, with over 1,500 attendees, the doctoral pharmacy students will present research posters on a variety of topics related to the metabolism of prescription medications commonly used in the treatment of chronic pain. Many of the students’ discoveries directly correlate to the efficacy of pain medications in individual patients and could lead to more personalized treatments for those suffering from chronic pain. Millennium Laboratories and the Millennium Research Institute Support Tufts Health Care Institute Program on Opioid Risk Management

SAN DIEGO, CA – April 4, 2011 - Millennium Laboratories, a leading provider of therapeutic drug monitoring and education to physicians and staff treating chronic pain, and the Millennium Research Institute, a national non-profit research center, have become contributing sponsors of the Tufts Health Care Program on Opioid Risk Management. Through a series of summit meetings and special projects, the THCI Program on Opioid Risk Management provides a neutral educational forum to foster an exchange of ideas among diverse attendees, who review and discuss scientific and public health findings relevant to opioid risk management and recommend future initiatives in this field. Millennium Laboratories and Millennium Research Institute Partner with UCSD School of Medicine on Study of Teens in Alcohol Treatment; Study Funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism

Funded by a $231,750 NIH Grant, the UCSD study may shed new light on teen addiction, the neurocognitive consequences of substance use, and the effect of treatment and abstinence.

SAN DIEGO, CA – March 21, 2011 - Millennium Laboratories, a leading provider of therapeutic drug monitoring, research and healthcare education, and the Millennium Research Institute, a national non-profit research center, announced today they have been selected by the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine to provide laboratory services, including research and analysis, for a new UC San Diego study funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), part of the National Institutes of Health.
